About Robanchor

Robanchor is a cross-border sourcing and supply-chain partner for European companies that manufacture or source products in China. We combine a client-facing office in Belgium with an operations and supplier-facing office in Shanghai — under a single European legal entity, so your project never falls through the gap between two continents.

Who We Are

Robanchor was founded to answer a question we kept hearing from European manufacturers, importers, and distributors: “How do we work with China without losing control?”

The answer, we found, was not a mobile phone on a business card or a Chinese agent with a WeChat account. It was a genuine, structured, dual-local presence. One team. Two locations. A single commercial and legal framework that gives the European buyer confidence, and a physical presence in China that gives the buyer access.

We are a brand of BessRe Belgium BV, a private limited company registered in Belgium. Our Belgium office is in Wilrijk, within the Antwerp metropolitan area, one of Europe’s most important logistics and industrial hubs. Our China office is in Shanghai, at 900 Yishan Road, in the Xuhui district — a commercially dense area with direct access to the manufacturing corridors of the Yangtze River Delta.

This is not a franchise arrangement, a network of independent agents, or a joint venture with an opaque Chinese partner. Both offices are part of the same operating entity. When you engage Robanchor, you engage one firm with two desks: one desk where you sit across from your European account manager, and another desk where someone walks into a factory on your behalf.

We are deliberately modest in size. That is not a limitation; it is a design choice. We would rather handle fifteen projects with the attention they deserve than sixty projects with neglect. Every client at Robanchor speaks directly with the people who do the work. There is no telephone tree, no internal hand-off to a “specialist” you have never met, no layer of account management that shields the operational team from the client. When you speak to us, you are speaking to the team.

Our Story and Mission

Robanchor began with a simple observation: the European buying market is full of companies that have tried to search for suppliers themselves and walked away frustrated. Not because the products are bad — Chinese manufacturing, at its best, is world-class. Not because the prices are unattractive — they often are what start the search in the first place. The problem is much more fundamental. It is the mismatch between how European buyers expect to do business and how cross-border manufacturing transactions actually run.

In a domestic European purchasing relationship, a buyer expects fast, clear answers. They expect a supplier to pick up the phone, understand their context, visit their office, and sign a contract that follows European legal norms. In a cross-border relationship with China, all of that changes: seven-hour time differences, language barriers, different quality definitions, different commercial practices, and a legal framework that can feel inaccessible.

Our mission is to remove that distance. We exist to give European companies a way to access the capabilities of Chinese manufacturing without leaving behind the local service they rely on. We want a buyer in Germany, France, the Netherlands, Belgium, or Scandinavia to feel, when they work with us, that they have a supplier partner that behaves the way they expect a partner to behave. We also want the factory in China to feel that it is working with a professional, committed client — not an anonymous intermediary that disappears after the order goes wrong.

That mission has guided everything we do: the way we staff our offices, the way we structure our contracts, the way we communicate, and the way we measure our own performance. It is why we maintain our own legal entity in Belgium rather than operating through a network of subcontractors. It is why we document every inspection with photographic evidence and written reports. And it is why we answer our phone, in both offices, by the second ring.

The Problem We Solve

The central problem we solve is the “local service gap.” European buyers expect local service. We would go further: they are right to expect it, and they do not have to lower their expectations just because the supply chain crosses borders.

Why European Buyers Expect Local Service

European buyers are not being demanding when they expect local service. Local service is the norm in European business culture. It is the standard way of doing business. If you buy steel in Germany, your contact answers in hours. If you order components in Northern Italy, the supplier sends a technical representative to your plant. If you run a packaging line in the Netherlands and a machine breaks down, the OEM has someone on-site the next morning. This is not special treatment; it is simply business in Europe.

When the same buyer starts to source in China, the experience can be exceptionally different. The time difference alone creates a slow rhythm: you send an email in the morning, the reply arrives in your inbox the next morning. An urgent quality question takes two days. A “quick” specification check takes a week. The buyer starts to feel that they are not the client, but a stranger on the other side of a wall.

The consequences are serious. Delays in responses lead to delays in decisions. Delays in decisions lead to delayed product launches. Delayed product launches lead to lost revenue. Then come the smaller but equally painful consequences: a sample that arrives with a subtle deviation from the drawing, a production batch assembled with inferior fasteners because “the supplier thought it would be fine,” a shipment delayed because the factory’s logistics person forgot to confirm the truck.

The Cost of the Gap

The gap between European buyer expectations and Asian supplier realities has a measurable cost. That cost appears as management hours, travel budgets, defective production lots, missed launch windows, and legal fees. It also appears in softer but equally real ways: the strain on a European operations team that is constantly chasing answers, the frustration of a procurement manager who cannot trust their own supply chain, and the risk of a factory relationship that was never properly documented or contractually anchored.

For many companies, the gap is the reason they abandon Chinese sourcing altogether — even when the opportunity is strong. That is where Robanchor comes in. We close the gap by being where the buyer is and where the seller is, at the same time.

Consider the daily overlap between a Belgian working day and a Chinese working day. In winter, when Belgium is on Central European Time, there is a one-hour overlap at the end of the Belgian afternoon and the start of the Shanghai evening. In summer, when Belgium shifts to Central European Summer Time, the overlap extends to two hours. On its own, a one-to-two-hour window is awkward and nearly unusable. But when you have a dedicated team on both ends, that window becomes a strategic hand-off point.

Daily Working-Hour Overlap Belgium (CET/CEST) ↔ Shanghai (CST) Winter 1 hour Summer 2 hours 0h 1h 2h

This is what the overlap enables in practice. Your European account manager works a normal European day, attending calls with your team, clarifying specifications, and reviewing quotations. At the end of the European afternoon, they hand over a structured brief to the Shanghai team. The Shanghai team starts its day, visits the factory, inspects the quality, and reports back. When you arrive at your office the next morning, a summary is already in your inbox. That is what local service looks like in a global supply chain.

Our Values

Our values are not decorative. They describe how we work, how we select our team, and how we measure ourselves. They are the reason clients stay with us for years, and the reason factories trust us when a problem arises.

  • 🇪🇺 European accountability. We are a European legal entity, contracted under European law, with a Belgian address and a Belgian phone line. When you work with us, you have a counterparty you can hold accountable.
  • 🇨🇳 Real Asian presence. We are physically present in Shanghai. We sit with factories, we speak with engineers, and we see products with our own eyes. There is no substitute for being there.
  • 🤝 Buyer-side fidelity. Our loyalty is always to the buyer. We do not take commissions from factories, we do not inflate prices, and we do not negotiate kickbacks. Our commercial relationship is with you.
  • 🔍 Radical transparency. You will receive the factory name, the contact person, the confirmed price, and the production status. We do not keep secrets from our clients, because secrets are the root of distrust.
  • ⏱️ Fast, structured communication. We answer within one business day on every channel. Every project has a single point of contact in Europe and a single point of contact in China. You are never passed from person to person.
  • ⚖️ Quality without leniency. We inspect against your specifications, not against a convenient interpretation of them. If the product does not meet the agreed standard, we say so — to you and to the factory.

Our Team Model

Our team model is designed around the dual-local principle. We deliberately keep the structure lean, senior, and fully integrated across the two offices. Everyone at Robanchor has a clear role, and every client knows exactly who does what.

In Belgium, our team consists of client account leaders and project managers. They are the people who understand your business context, your product, your supply chain, and your internal processes. They are your primary day-to-day contact. They speak your language, literally and commercially, and they are the people who sign off on every deliverable before it reaches you.

In Shanghai, our team consists of sourcing engineers, quality inspectors, and logistics coordinators. They are the people who know the supplier landscape, the technical feasibility, the factory reality, and the local rules of business. They visit factories regularly — not merely during an audit phase, but throughout the life of the project.

A typical Robanchor project flows through six clear stages:

  • 1. European brief. Your project starts with a conversation with our Belgian team. We agree on scope, specifications, timelines, and quality standards. The result is a structured project brief, not a vague promise.
  • 2. Shanghai execution. The brief is transmitted to our Shanghai team as a formal document. They source, qualify, and negotiate with factories based on that document. Nothing is left to a verbal hand-off.
  • 3. Shared review. The Belgian team evaluates every quotation and sample against your requirements. You receive our analysis — not a raw Chinese quotation forwarded in the middle of the night.
  • 4. Contract and compliance. Your commercial contract is with Robanchor / BessRe Belgium BV. We handle the contractual framework so that you have legal certainty at a European level.
  • 5. Production and inspection. Our Shanghai team monitors production, performs inspections at agreed hold points, and reports back with photographic and written evidence. You see what we see.
  • 6. Logistics and delivery. We coordinate shipment, export documentation, and delivery to your warehouse. You receive goods that match the specification, with the paperwork in order.

This model is not an outsourcing of your procurement function; it is an extension of it. We do not replace your purchasing department — we give it a second pair of hands, on the other side of the world.

Where We Operate

Robanchor’s operating footprint is intentionally focused. Rather than maintaining a scattered network of small representations, we concentrate our presence where it matters: in the economic heart of Europe and in the commercial heart of China.

The Belgian office is located in Wilrijk, just south of Antwerp, providing easy access to the Port of Antwerp-Bruges — the largest integrated shipping and logistics hub in Europe. The Shanghai office is located on Yishan Road, in the Xuhui district, with direct access to the manufacturing supply chains of Jiangsu, Zhejiang, and the wider Yangtze River Delta.

This two-location setup gives us a practical advantage: we can meet you in Belgium within a day’s travel from most European cities, and we can be at a factory in Zhejiang within an hour of Shanghai. In both places, you know exactly how to find us.

Legal Entity

Robanchor is a brand of BessRe Belgium BV. This is a deliberate structural decision, not a corporate formality.

When you work with Robanchor, your contractual counterparty is a Belgian private limited company (BV). You are protected by Belgian commercial law and European regulatory frameworks. Our invoices are European invoices. Our contracts are European contracts. Our liability is European liability. If you need to enforce a right, you do not need to find a lawyer in Shanghai who specializes in Chinese contract law — you call us at our Belgian office, and we resolve it, or you address us through the Belgian courts.

This is not a technicality. It is fundamental to the trust that a cross-border relationship requires. A factory in China might be held to a Chinese contract with Chinese enforcement. A trading company in Hong Kong might be held to common-law rules. But a European buyer wants — and deserves — a counterparty that is accountable within their own legal and cultural framework.

Having a Belgian legal entity also means that Robanchor is subject to European rules on data protection, commercial transparency, and business conduct. We treat your drawings, your specifications, and your commercial data with the care that European law requires.

What Makes Us Different

The market for “sourcing services in China” is crowded. There are Chinese agents, Hong Kong brokers, online platforms, and European consultancies that subcontract to Asian partners. Many are competent. Some are not. What makes Robanchor different is not a single feature, but the combination of characteristics that defines how we operate.

  • One entity, two offices. We are not a European broker that sends work to an Asian subcontractor. We are one company with our own people on both continents.
  • European legal accountability. Your contract is with a Belgian BV, not with a Chinese trading company or an offshore intermediary.
  • Buyer-side representation. We are paid by you, and we work for you. We do not accept kickbacks or commissions from factories. This is the only way to give independent advice.
  • No minimum-order licensing barriers. We run projects of all sizes, from initial pilot samples to full production series, and every project receives the same standard of documentation.
  • A senior team. The people who work on your project are the senior staff of the firm. We do not hand your project to a junior after the sales call.
  • Process discipline. Every project has a structured communication plan, an inspection plan, and an escalation procedure. We bring process to a market that often lacks it.
  • A real office, not a banner. Our Shanghai office is staffed, operational, and visitable. You are welcome to meet us there, just as you are welcome to meet us in Belgium.

We also believe in keeping things refreshingly simple. No jargon-heavy proposals, no unnecessary exclusivity agreements, no opaque fee structures. We tell you exactly what we do, what it costs, and what you get. Then we do what we said.

Work With Us

If you are a European company that needs to source, manufacture, inspect, or deliver products from China, we would like to hear from you. Come to our office in Wilrijk for a coffee. Visit our office in Shanghai when you are on a business trip. Send us a drawing and ask for our honest evaluation. That is how our best projects begin.

No project is too small to deserve professional attention, and no project is too complex to be reduced to a structured plan. We are a brand of BessRe Belgium BV, and we are here to make sure that when Europe meets China, both sides feel they have a reliable neighbour.
